Morocco-Nepal Bilateral Relations

- Diplomatic Relations
Morocco and Nepal established their diplomatic relations on 18 February 1975.
Morocco’s diplomatic coverage of Nepal is operated from its Embassy in New Delhi while the Nepalese Embassy in Cairo covers Morocco.
Morocco has appointed two Honorary Consuls of the Kingdom in Nepal: Mr. Santosh Kumar TBRIWALA in 2000 and Mr. Basant K. CHAUDARY in 2007.
- Political Relations
Morocco and Nepal’s political relations are cordial and characterized by their convergence on different issues, both at the regional and international levels. They are also marked by their constant desire to further develop the scope of their cooperation.
On 25 April 2015, the Kingdom dispatched an emergency aid of one million dollars to Nepal, following the devastating earthquake that hit several regions of the country.
- Exchange of visits
From the Moroccan side:
- June 7, 2017: Ambassador of His Majesty the King to Nepal, with residence in New Delhi, Mr. Mohamed MALIKI, took part in the inauguration ceremony of the new Prime Minister of Nepal, Mr. Sher Bahadur Deuba.
- On 5 June 2017: Ambassador Mohamed MALIKI presented his credentials to the President of Nepal, H.E. Ms. Bidya Devi Bhandari.
- 16-20 April 2014: Visit to Kathmandu by the Chief Director of Asian Affairs Department (MOFA, Morocco) and by Ambassador Mohamed MALIKI.
- November 2007: Ambassador Mohamed MALIKI’s visit to Kathmandu and holding of bilateral political dialogue.
From the Nepalese side:
- 12-14 March 2015: Visit of Mr. Mahesh Pant, Minister of Industry of Nepal and Mr. Uday Nepali, Member of Parliament, Member of the Constituent Assembly of Nepal to participate in Crans-Montana Forum in Dakhla.
Virtual mode
- 25 March 2022: Virtual participation of the Nepalese Foreign Minister, Dr. Narayan KHADKA, in the Ministerial Meeting of Champions of the Global Compact on Migration (GCM), organized in a virtual format, in Rabat.
In his address, Minister Khadka underlined Nepal's commitment to the GCM and stressed the importance of partnership and cooperation with countries of origin and destination.
